INTO THE JUNGLE
2023 Set Design
Hey there! Let me show you how I designed and made a jungle!
For this project, I designed, executed, and oversaw the creation of a jungle/rainforest themed set for a week-long children’s summer program. The goal was to create an immersive experience for the children who would be attending during the week. The set also needed to meet the needs of the drama team that would be using the set to perform during the week.
Using my iPad, I started to brainstorm and sketch ideas of what the set could look like.
Next I made the “to-scale” drawing of the set. Each square in the drawing below represents 1 foot.
Next Step: Draw Everything!
My next task was to illustrate every individual set piece so that our team of painters could trace them out to paint.
While drawing each of these set pieces, I made sure to maintain a consistent visual style. This was to ensure that all of the individual pieces would be cohesive once they were put together.
The process begins!
Next, the team and I got to work. We use a four-step process to take each set piece from concept to completion!
